“My name is Keira Parr and I have been a member of the Global 180 community for 7 years, beginning as a student in grade 6 and progressing to become a member of the Youth Council. What started out as a social outlet for myself in middle school, has evolved into an important leadership role which has impacted my growth and development as a student and member of my community. G180 gave me the confidence to audition for the music program at Cawthra Park SS, even whilst knowing that none of my friends were going to be there. Additionally, this increased confidence has allowed me to put other people’s opinions aside and focus on where and how I would like to further my education. Finally, with the guidance of the volunteers and staff at 180 Fuse, I have been given the leadership opportunities that have led me to decide pursue a career in medicine – a field which is primarily focused on improving the lives of others. Working with the youth and positively impacting their lives has given me the compassion and interpersonal skills needed to work in the field of medicine. Global 180 and its staff has helped me get to where I am in my life right now, and continues to aid me in the discovery and realization of the path I want to follow.” – Keira
